Copyright and Takedown Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026

Effective date: 2026-09-01 · Version 1

QuizNeu respects intellectual-property rights and expects its users to do the same. This policy explains how to report content you believe infringes your rights, how the user who posted it can respond, and what happens to accounts that infringe repeatedly. It is part of the Terms of Use.

1. Before you send a notice

  • Check that you hold the right. Send a notice only if you own the work or are authorised to act for the owner.
  • Consider whether the use is lawful. Quotation, criticism, teaching and other exceptions exist under copyright law — including fair use in the United States and the teaching and quotation exceptions in EU and Turkish law. A notice about lawful use can expose you to liability for the costs it causes.
  • Point at specific content. "Everything by this user" is not actionable; a link to the set, exam, reading or folder is.

2. How to send a takedown notice

Email support@quizneu.com with the subject line "Copyright Notice" and include all of the following:

  1. Identification of the work. What is being infringed — the title, ISBN, publication, or a link to the original. If the notice covers many works at once, a representative list of them is enough.
  2. Identification of the infringing content. A link to the QuizNeu set, exam, reading, folder or profile, precise enough for us to find it. A username, a folder name or a search term is not enough on its own — give the link that identifies the content uniquely. If there is more than one item, include a separate link for each.
  3. Your contact details. Your full legal name — a first and last name, not only a company name — plus the organisation you act for (if any), a postal address, an email address and a telephone number. We pass these to the user whose content is affected, because they need them to respond.
  4. A good-faith statement that the use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act on their behalf.
  6. Your signature — electronic or physical.

An incomplete notice may not be actionable; we will tell you what is missing.

Sending a knowingly false notice — misrepresenting that material is infringing — can make you liable for the damages and costs it causes.

3. What we do with a notice

  1. We acknowledge receipt promptly.
  2. We review the notice for completeness and obvious errors.
  3. If the notice is valid, we remove or disable access to the content as soon as we have reviewed a complete notice, and immediately in clear-cut cases.
  4. We notify the user who posted it, tell them what was removed and why, and send them a copy of the notice — including your identifying information, since they need it to respond. If you have a safety concern about that, say so in your notice.
  5. We record the notice against the user's account for the repeat-infringer policy in section 7.

If we have reason to doubt that the sender is entitled to send a notice, we may forward it to the rights holder named in it before acting.

4. If your content was removed — counter-notice

If you believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, email support@quizneu.com with the subject "Counter-Notice" and include:

  1. Identification of the removed content and where it was.
  2. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  3. Your name, postal address, email and telephone number.
  4. Your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of Türkiye and your agreement to accept service of process from the person who sent the notice.
  5. Your signature.

We forward a valid counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have started court proceedings, we may restore the content.

5. Other rights, and where you are

QuizNeu is operated from Türkiye and this policy applies the same way wherever you are; there is no separate country form to fill in. If the law of your country prescribes a different format, send the notice in that format — we will act on it as long as it carries the information in section 2.

The same address handles claims other than copyright:

  • Trademark — tell us the mark, the registration if any, and the content that misuses it.
  • Personality, image and privacy rights — tell us which content shows or names you, and the basis of your objection.

6. Statutory routes in Türkiye

The notice route in this policy does not replace the rights the law gives you; we suggest trying this route first because it is usually faster.

  • Article 4 (supplementary) of the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works (No. 5846) gives a rights holder a statutory notice-and-takedown route: you first apply to the person who published the content, and if the infringement does not stop, you apply to the public prosecutor (Cumhuriyet savcısı) to have the hosting provider suspend the service given to that content. If you use that route, we comply with the obligations the law places on us.
  • Violations of personality rights — where the issue is not copyright but your name, image or private life — leave your right to apply to a criminal judgeship of peace (sulh ceza hâkimliği) under Law No. 5651 intact. Writing to us directly is usually faster.

When a court or prosecutor's decision reaches us we comply with it and, to the extent the law allows, inform the user concerned.

7. Repeat infringers

We keep a record of valid notices against each account, and we close the accounts of repeat infringers.

  • First valid notice — content removed, user notified, warning recorded on the account.
  • Further notices — the account is suspended, and closed if infringement continues.

Notices withdrawn by the sender, or defeated by a counter-notice that goes unanswered, do not count. A single upload of a whole textbook or a publisher's test bank can lead to closure on its own.

If we close a paid account for repeat infringement, we are not obliged to refund amounts already paid, except where consumer law requires it.

8. Educators and publishers

If you represent an institution or publisher and expect to send notices regularly, write to support@quizneu.com and we will agree a direct channel. For active exam material, the faster route is usually the Academic Integrity Policy — that content is removed while under review without needing a copyright analysis.
